The Luke Bitmead Memorial Fund

Luke Bitmead, author of White Summer, and co-author of Heading South, died in October 2006 aged 34.

This Fund has been established to enable us to carry out something Luke had planned to do in the future, to give a bursary to help support fledgling writers. We are delighted to be able to say Luke's Fund is steadily growing. Elaine Hanson, Luke's mother, and Tiffany Orton, his sister, are running the fund on a voluntary basis. Chris Hanson will be their accountant (also on a voluntary basis). Tom Chalmers of Legend Press, publisher of Luke's first novel "White Summer" is giving the Fund his full support.

In May 2007 another novel written by Luke and Catherine Richards in an email partnership was published by Legend. Sadly, Luke and Catherine never met. But HEADING SOUTH is now available and may be ordered at www.legendpress.co.uk or from your local bookshop. We do hope you will enjoy this sparkling new novel that gives some fascinating insights into the complexity of relationships.

All Luke’s royalties will go into the Fund, plus any donations. We are thrilled to receive each and every one; be it large or just a little, all are equally valued by us as a gift to the memory of a very special person who enjoyed helping others.

To make a contribution to Luke's Fund, cheques should be made payable to:
